An outstanding, gold medal winner, Brunello di Montalcino from a fantastic vintage.
Brunello di Montalcino is considered one of the best in the world and the greatest Italian wine and should be in the bucket list of any wine lover and 2006 was a great vintage for Tuscany and the Montalcino area, and this was one of the best wine produced in the year.
Brunello di Montalcino is a red wine made with Sangiovese Grosso grapes, the local variety of Sangiovese, and this wine offers an amazing and very complex bouquet, where the spices have taken over the fruit to add elegance, with an ever evolving palate, still offering plenty of acidity and potential for more ageing or delightful if drunk now.
Brunello di Montalcino is a wine that would match perfectly a Fiorentina steak or a game dish, such as wild boar widely present on the Tuscan cuisine, or can just be sipped and enjoyed on its own. It is strongly recommended to decant the wine for at least 4/5 hours before serving it using a decanter to allow the wine to open and soften.
