Barolo Riserva, Collina San Ponzio

San Ponzio’s Barolo Riserva is only made in the best vintages and from the oldest vines in the Cru Fossati’s vineyard, in the La Morra area, and in very small quantity. The Nebbiolo grapes from the oldest vineyard are hand harvested and put in a small box, to avoid crashing them and starting the fermentation process and taken straight to the winery where they are softly pressed.

The Barolo, to become Barolo Riserva is then aged for at least 5 years in the winery’s cellar before being released. The result is a very complex red wine, a wine that can be put aside in the cellar and forgotten for several more years or drunk now, after hours of decanting the wine.

San Ponzio’s Barolo Riserva has a rich, overwhelming, nose, with violet and black fruit aromas, in the mouth is silky, full, balanced with firm tannins, amazing.

Barolo Riserva is a perfect wine to pair with roasted meat and game dishes or sip on its own or over some mature cheese, preferably Piedmont aged cheese. Read our Italian wine and grape guide to learn more on Barolo Riserva.
